Dear Taxi Owners and Operators,
The Toronto taxi industry is facing unprecedented challenges. With nearly half of our taxi plates sitting idle and drivers struggling to make ends meet, our livelihoods hang in the balance. It’s time for us to unite and take action to safeguard our future.
For too long, the voices of taxi drivers, owners, and plate holders have fallen on deaf ears at City Hall. Policy decisions have favored outsiders, leaving our industry vulnerable to extinction. But together, we can change the tide.
Since its inception, All Taxi Owners and Operators Ltd. (ATOOL) has been at the forefront of advocating for our industry. Despite setbacks, we remain steadfast in our mission to protect and promote the Toronto taxi business. With a new mayoral leadership, there’s hope for meaningful change.
We urgently call upon the city to address key issues:
- Level Playing Field: We demand fairness in regulations to ensure equal opportunities for all transportation providers.
- Cap on PTC Vehicles: Implementing a cap on ride-hailing vehicles is essential to prevent oversaturation and preserve the viability of traditional taxis.
- Fair Fare Structure: Standardizing fare rates between ride-hailing services and city taxis is crucial to prevent unfair competition and protect drivers’ incomes.
- Direct Dialogue with the Mayor: We seek direct engagement with city leadership to advocate for policies that support the sustainability of the taxi industry.
We cannot achieve these goals alone. It will require the collective effort of every taxi owner and operator in Toronto. Your time, ideas, and financial contributions are invaluable to our cause.
Join us in this crucial endeavor. Together, we can amplify our voice and drive positive change for our industry and our communities.
